Traffic Skills 101 Smart Cycling Coure

following the Nevada Bicycle and Pedestrian Conference

Traffic Skills 101 is the foundation. It provides instruction and guidance in the basic principles of vehicular bicycling. Bicyclists have more fun, and are safer, when they ride with skill and confidence. The course combines classroom discussion (four hours) and parking lot activities with on-road practice of the princples of vehicular bicycling (five hours). The on-road experiences include quiet residential streets, minor arterials, multi-lane low- and moderate-speed arterials.

If you are coming to the conference from out of the area, and can’t bring your bike, we may be able to help you arrange to rent or borrow a bike locally.

Contact: Charles Nelson, 530-543-1890. Space is limited, so register early. We recommend that you join the League of American Bicyclists, and your local bicycling advocacy group, but membership is not required to participate in the course.

Registration Options:

  • You may pay "at the door" on Thursday evening, but you must have registered beforehand by emailing or faxing the registration form to Charles Nelson. For payment at the door, make checks or purchase orders payable to Charles W. Nelson, LCI Instructor.
  • Download and fill in a pdf form, then email it to Dan Allison. You can use the digital signature field and be complete, or ignore it and sign the form at the beginning of the course.
  • Download and print a pdf document, then fax it to Charles Nelson at 530-543-1902.

Instructors

The instructors for this course are certified by the League of American Bicyclists and have years of experience and training, and include Bruce Mackey, LCI #546, Hanford CA, Charles Nelson, LCI #1806, South Lake Tahoe CA, and Dan Allison, LCI #2301, Carson City NV.
